Jonny Bairstow during practise session IANS

Jonny Bairstow has been the centre of attraction in the ongoing five-Test series between India and England. Be it in terms of taking DRS reviews, appealing for wickets from behind or chasing the leather while the slip fielders watch in amusement. Bairstow has given many moments for the fans to cheer with his antics throughout this ongoing series. Well, despite all this, Bairstow is the second highest run-getter from England camp in this series with 351 runs. Not only as batsman, he has also done a decent job behind the wickets as well. He recently broke Ian Healy‘s record of most dismissals by wicketkeeper in a calendar year by getting 70 dismissals under his name. Bairstow also broke Mark Boucher‘s tally of taking most number of catches as wicketkeeper in a calendar year by taking 66 catches.

Bairstow has been the most consistent batsman for England in Tests in this year. But the only thing which England needs to worry over Bairstow is about his over excitement towards DRS, which he always likes to suggest to his captain to opt for it, irrespective of whether it is relevant to take or not. Besides his obsession, Bairstow faced some tough times on Day Three of the fifth Test. Throughout the day, Bairstow missed to capture many throws by his teammates. He missed couple of run outs as well and he looked quite down on confidence too. Meanwhile, here is a video which is shared by Indian Cricket Team’s official account:

Despite all these, Bairstow’s energy behind the wickets never looked down as he kept cheering his team throughout the day.
